Abstrak

Streptococcus mutans adalah salah mikroba yang bertanggung jawab terhadap bau mulut. Aktivitas ekstrak etanol dari daun Sosor Bebek (Kalanchoe pinnata (Lamk.) Pers.) memiliki kekuatan empat kali dari ekstrak airnya dalam menghambat pertumbuhan Streptococcus mutans. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengisolasi dan mengkarakterisasi suatu senyawa antibakteri dari ekstrak etanol daun Kalanchoe pinnata (Lamk.) Pers. Ekstrak difraksinasi menggunakan kromatografr kolom. Fraksi dipurifikasi dengan KLT dan diuji kemurnian isolat secara KCKT. Isolat dikarakterisasi menggunakan spektrofotometri UV-Vis dan FTIR. Fraksinasi dcngan kolom kromatograli menghasilkan 9 fraksi. Fraksi VII memiliki DDH terhadap Streptococcus mutans paling besar. Rendemen isolat sebesar 9,18% terhadap fraksi VII atau 0,84% terhadap ekstrak etanol dengan kemurnian 95%. Isolat diduga adalah golongan senyawa saponin.
