Antioxidants are compounds that can inhibit the oxidation reaction, to scavenge free radicals and highly reactive molecules. Green algae is the largest division consisting of more than 500 genera and about 15,000 species. Spirogyra sp. is an example of species that lives in fresh water, while Ulva lactuca lives in the sea. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity as scavenger free radicals of the ethanol extract of green algae Spirogyra sp. and Ulva lactuca by using DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-pikrilhidrazil). Ethanol extract of green algae Spirogyra sp. and Ulva lactuca were prepared from the powder by maceration method. Trials of antioxidant activity in DPPH visible spectrophotometry. Gallic acid used as a positive control. The free radicals scavenging expressed with ES50. The result showed that ethanolic extract of Spirogyra sp. and Ulva lactuca have activity as scavenger free radicals. The ES50 value of Spirogyra sp. was (92,83±0,58) μg/mL and steamed of Ulva lactuca was (1376,65 ± 7,80) μg/mL and the positive control, gallic acid was (0,73±0,04) μg/mL
