Analysis of Relationship between Pharmacist Professionalism and Pharmaceutical Care Practice: Case Study on Diabetic Therapy in Sidoarjo Regency Pharmacy

Abstrak

Professionalism is the active demonstration of the traits of a professional. Professional is a member of a profession who displays the following profesional traits knowledge, skills and attitude of a profession. This research aimed to identify whether relationship between pharmacist professionalism and pharmaceutical care practice in diabetic therapy case in Sidoarjo regency pharmacy. It was expected that this research could be used as thought contribution in solving practice problem in increasing pharmaceutical care quality and providing input for knowledge progress related with professionalism improvement and pharmaceutical care practice implementation. This research was categorized as observational with cross sectional nature with 78 pharmacists as respondent who were practiced in Sidoarjo regency pharmacies using questionnaire fulfilled by them. Result by Pearson analysis concluded that there is relationship between pharmacist professionalism and pharmaceutical care practice with p < α (at α = 0.01) p value = 0.00 with strong correlation coefficient r = 0.527. Within pharmaceutical care practice that was started from prescription admission, drug preparation and drug referral highest correlation was obtained on drug referral stage with p < α (at α = 0.01) p value =0.00 with moderate correlation coefficient r = 0.499.
